ABOUT THE ROLE
Okta is seeking a Sr. Manager of Engineering for Workflows Runtime to lead the engineering teams responsible for building the Okta Workflows platform. As a key leader in defining the future of Identity Orchestration, you will be responsible for both strategic product direction and operational excellence, helping our customers automate everything without code.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this high-impact, high-visibility role, you will lead, grow, and inspire multiple teams of engineers and engineering managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and psychological safety. You will partner closely with senior leaders in Product Management and Design to define a compelling product vision and execute a multi-year roadmap. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, recruiting, and mentoring multiple teams of engineers and engineering managers
- Partnering with Product Management and Design to define product vision and execute a multi-year roadmap
- Driving the technical strategy for Workflows Runtime, ensuring scalability, reliability, and intuitiveness
- Owning and managing the operational rhythm of your organization, establishing metrics and processes for engineering excellence
- Representing your teams and strategy in senior leadership forums and company-wide reviews
- Building strong relationships with other engineering leaders and stakeholders across the organization
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 8+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of engineering management experience as a people manager
- A strong technical background leading teams that build complex backend systems using Rust, GoLang, and messaging solutions
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes is highly desirable
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with product and design counterparts to build and execute a long-term, customer-focused roadmap
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing engineering talent at all levels
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a large, globally distributed organization

Okta offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program, including an annual base salary range of $207,000 - $285,000 USD for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
