Senior Engineering Manager, Core Automation (Platform)

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Core Automation team at Coinbase. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of finance through AI-powered operations. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving the vision of a fully AI-driven automated world, reimagining compliance processes, and delivering a delightful customer experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will explore and apply advanced GenAI techniques to solve complex challenges across the organization. You will partner with Operations and Compliance organizations to maximize impact, build and manage engineering teams in the Compliance domain, and plan, design, develop, and test software systems or applications. You will also design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices. Additionally, you will collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter. Your responsibilities will include coaching team members on design principles, coding standards, and AI productivity tools adoption, reviewing and ensuring the security, scalability, and architectural integrity of feature designs, and creating and enforcing processes to improve engineering quality, AI adoption, and high-impact delivery of each team member. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need at least 10 years of experience in software engineering and at least 5 years of engineering management experience, with 2 years of experience managing Managers. You should have a deep understanding of high-quality code and software engineering processes, as well as experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale. You will also need to be execution-focused with an ability to navigate ambiguity, able to do both long-term thinking and short-term planning, and passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.
