Senior Data Analyst
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're seeking a highly skilled and intellectually curious analyst to shape the future of financial data at Instacart, driving innovation at the intersection of systems, analytics, and business strategy. As a key member of the Financial Data Analytics team, you will architect and deliver data models, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure that empower Finance and Accounting with trusted insights at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you will collaborate across technical and business teams to ensure financial data is accurate, reliable, and compliant. You'll also advance large-scale systems initiatives, accelerate the month-end close, and optimize cloud spend in our AWS environment. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Bridging data and business needs by translating business requirements into scalable data models
- Owning data initiatives end-to-end, transforming ambiguous ideas into well-defined, high-impact projects with clear deliverables
- Building decision-making tools, designing and automating dashboards, models, and reporting systems that surface clear insights and guide long-term growth strategies
- Supporting Revenue Accounting by building and maintaining data products (dashboards, reports, analyses) that underpin the Revenue Accounting organization
- Ensuring compliance and governance by applying compliance-first design principles to support SOX, audit readiness, and enforcing data governance standards
- Maintaining data integrity by implementing validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability across financial datasets
- Driving continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system enhancement
- Leveraging AI and next-generation analytics by harnessing cutting-edge AI technologies to reimagine how financial data is modeled, automated, and delivered
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 5+ years (7+ preferred) of experience in data analytics or analytics engineering roles
- Strong SQL and cloud data fundamentals, with hands-on experience in Snowflake, dbt, and BI tools (Mode, Looker, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience building and supporting complex data pipelines with emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and traceability
- Familiarity with financial data structures, accounting processes, and enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Salesforce, Adaptive)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical teams
