Senior Backend Engineer - Grafana Backend Services | Spain | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our Grafana Backend Services squad at Grafana Labs. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering new functionality and iterating on existing features to ensure the best possible experience for our customers. You will work closely with your team to design and implement solutions, contribute to and review design documents, and take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your career objectives. You will also be part of your team's on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you're running, mentor and support other team members, and collaborate with the team to share ideas and knowledge. In addition to your technical expertise, you will have access to modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow, backed by a company-funded usage budget. You will also have the opportunity to work with frontier models such as GPT-Codex 5/3, Claude Opus 4.6, and Gemini 3 Pro. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be a great fit for this role, you should have solid backend development experience, ideally with Go, and a good understanding of storage solutions with an emphasis on relational databases like MySQL, SQLite, and Postgres. You should also care deeply about developer and user experience and the quality of the products that you work on. Experience with delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping a product to the customer's hands in a self-driven way is also essential. Additionally, you should have experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others, and experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative but asynchronous environment. BENEFITS In Spain, the base compensation range for this role is €82,000 - €103,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process.
