Senior AI Engineer – Notebooks

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to join our team at Datadog. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in building AI-assisted workflows for our Notebooks product, which provides customers with a collaborative surface for ad-hoc data analysis, technical documentation, incident postmortems, and runbooks. Your expertise will help us turn Notebooks into a powerful tool that enables customers to go from uncertainty to answer and makes knowledge retrievable and reusable across Datadog products. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior AI Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of AI-powered product experiences for Notebooks and adjacent surfaces. Your responsibilities will include: - Developing systems that combine deterministic product capabilities with LLM-powered experiences to deliver trustworthy and explainable customer outcomes - Partnering closely with Product to translate customer problems, adoption signals, and roadmap goals into concrete technical decisions and iterations - Building experiences that enable Datadog capabilities to operate within third-party AI platforms, agents, and conversational environments - Providing technical leadership and mentorship while helping establish AI engineering best practices - Owning production systems, building and operating reliable backend services that run in the critical path of customer deployments, and being on-call for those services WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - Experience with Go, Python, or similar systems programming languages - At least 6 years of relevant engineering experience - Hands-on experience delivering production AI-powered products and customer-facing experiences using LLM technologies - A strong product mindset and ability to connect technical decisions to customer outcomes and business impact - Experience building reliable systems that manage model non-determinism through evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, and operational excellence WHY REMOTE Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace to ensure our team members can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
