Security Labs Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a highly skilled and adventurous software engineer to join our Security Labs team at Anthropic. As a key member of this experimental team, you'll be responsible for driving breakthroughs in AI security and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Your work will have a direct impact on the safety and reliability of our AI systems, and you'll be part of a team that's shaping the future of AI security. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Security Labs engineer, you'll own projects from start to finish, scoping out new ideas, building prototypes, and testing them against real-world workloads. You'll work closely with research and infrastructure teams to ensure that our AI workflows can survive extreme isolation, and you'll help develop novel security infrastructure to protect our systems. Your responsibilities will include: - Standing up novel security infrastructure quickly, optimizing for what we learn rather than for permanence - Finding the receiving team early and bringing them along while you build, ensuring a smooth hand-off - Working embedded with research and infrastructure teams to test the viability of their workflows under extreme conditions - Turning experimental results into actionable writeups that shape our long-term security architecture - Helping pick the next round of bets and influencing the industry to improve AI security WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you'll need to be a strong software engineer with rare depth in at least one area, such as firmware or hardware security, applied cryptography, OS/kernel/hypervisor internals, formal methods, reverse engineering, or high-assurance and cross-domain systems. You should be comfortable taking risks, jumping layers when necessary, and prioritizing creative problem-solving over incremental progress. Your passion for AI security and your willingness to challenge the status quo are essential qualities for this role.
