Figma
Security Engineer
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Figma is on a mission to make design accessible to everyone, empowering teams to brainstorm, prototype, code, and iterate with AI from anywhere in the world. As a Security Engineer, you will be at the forefront of protecting this global platform, ensuring that every new feature, infrastructure change, and AI innovation meets the highest security standards. Your work will shape the safety and trust that millions of designers, developers, and product teams place in Figma.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will partner with cross‑functional teams to conduct threat modeling, code audits, and design reviews across AI, platform, product, and anti‑abuse domains. You will design and implement scalable security controls that mitigate cloud, corporate, and application risks. You will lead offensive security exercises, penetration tests, and bug bounty support to uncover and remediate vulnerabilities. You will contribute to incident response, vulnerability triage, and continuous improvement of security tooling. You will advocate for secure development practices and mentor teammates on best practices. You will influence product roadmaps by embedding security early in the design process.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You have five or more years of engineering experience, with a strong background in security engineering or software engineering that includes hands‑on security work. You possess deep judgment in threat modeling, risk prioritization, and secure system design. You are proficient in at least one general‑purpose programming language such as Python, Go, or JavaScript. You have a proven track record of collaborating across product, engineering, and operations to deliver secure solutions. You communicate complex security concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences. You thrive in an environment that values curiosity, continuous learning, and growth.
WHY REMOTE
Figma’s remote‑first culture allows you to work from any U.S. location or from one of our hubs, giving you the flexibility to balance work and life while contributing to a global team. Our asynchronous workflows and distributed teams mean you can collaborate across time zones without sacrificing productivity. You will have the freedom to set your own schedule, supported by a culture that prioritizes results over hours logged.
