Principal Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE Okta secures access for 20,000 organizations and billions of users. As a leader in the field of identity management, we are now extending our work to the agentic shift. This requires a deep understanding of the complexities involved in deploying AI agents, including integration, continuous tuning, and change management. Every agent needs an identity, a scope, an audit trail, and a way to be shut down when it goes wrong. We are looking for a senior technical field authority to own the patterns that every account and every field deployment engineer (FDE) inherits. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the most senior technical field authority for agent identity at Okta, you will own the reference architecture for agent identity, delegation, audit, and kill-switch patterns that FDEs deploy across the portfolio. You will personally own the most strategic, regulated, or technically novel deployments, and set the standard for what good looks like in the field. You will also review other FDEs' architectures, coach senior customer engineers and your own team, and shape the roadmap for agent identity. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of engineering, identity protocols, and agent security. You should have 10+ years of experience shipping production software, with a strong background in distributed systems and identity experience. You should also have expertise in OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and other relevant identity protocols. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of agent security, including OWASP Top 10 for Agentic Applications, NIST AI RMF, and MITRE ATLAS. WHY REMOTE Okta is a remote-friendly company, and this role is no exception. You will be expected to travel occasionally, up to 35% of the time, but the majority of your work will be done remotely. The annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for this position in the United Kingdom is between £114,000.
