Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Medical Records and Health Information Manager to build and lead our Health Information Management (HIM) function from the ground up at Backpack Healthcare. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in transforming access to behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, and families across multiple states. WHAT YOU'LL DO As our Medical Records and Health Information Manager, you will be responsible for leading all medical records and release of information operations. This includes ensuring compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, payer requirements, and CARF standards. You will design and implement scalable HIM workflows, policies, and tracking systems, and develop reporting metrics to improve efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times. Additionally, you will partner with various teams, including Compliance, Legal, Clinical Operations, Technology, and Quality, to ensure seamless operations. Your responsibilities will also include training and supporting staff on medical records processes, documentation standards, and privacy best practices, and serving as the organization's subject matter expert for health information management. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in health information management, with experience in leading medical records and release of information operations. You should have a deep understanding of HIPAA, state regulations, payer requirements, and CARF standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills, are also essential.
