ABOUT THE ROLE The Manager, Software Engineering - Payload role at Figma is a leadership opportunity to shape the future of content infrastructure and collaboration. As a key member of the Payload team, you will lead the engineering team responsible for Payload's evolution as both a thriving open-source platform and a foundational part of Figma's future. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Manager, Software Engineering - Payload, you will be responsible for leading the engineering team behind Payload, developing and executing on a strategy to leverage Payload to accelerate Figma's suite of offerings, and engaging directly with the open-source community, contributors, and enterprise customers to understand their needs and gather feedback. You will also provide hands-on technical leadership, lead and grow a team of engineers, and partner closely with product and technical leaders to align team priorities and ensure engineering investments are focused on the highest-impact opportunities. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need 3+ years of experience leading and developing software engineering teams within a technical product company, a strong technical background building modern web applications and platforms using technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, or similar frameworks, and experience building or leading teams responsible for developer platforms, application frameworks, or other highly extensible software systems.
