Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced manager to lead the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) in the Americas region for GitLab. As a manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a team of incident response engineers, setting clear performance expectations, and holding the team accountable for delivering quality results. The SIRT team is responsible for managing and investigating cybersecurity incidents across all GitLab operating environments, operating in a tierless SOC model. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the manager of the SIRT team, your key responsibilities will include: - Managing day-to-day team operations, establishing clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability for direct reports - Developing and coaching incident responders to provide quality results and foster a culture of investigation excellence - Proactively identifying and filling talent gaps through hiring decisions that align with GitLab's values and technical requirements - Driving engagement and retention by recognizing team member contributions and creating an environment of open feedback and psychological safety - Cascading organizational context by translating division and company-wide strategy into clear, actionable team priorities - Implementing and maturing incident response processes to improve runbooks, procedures, and team capabilities - Leading incident response as an escalation point and incident commander for high-severity events - Enabling cross-functional collaboration with peer SecOps teams, Legal, Customer Support, and Infrastructure to resolve incidents and close defense gaps - Aligning the team on defensive improvements by driving insights from alerts, investigations, and incidents to improve GitLab's security posture WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - A strong technical background with experience in cybersecurity and incident response - Comfortable owning the full incident lifecycle from alert triage to retrospective actions - Skilled at developing others to do the same - Ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure - Experience with implementing program direction, maintaining a culture of high performance, and defending infrastructure and products - Availability during US West Coast business hours, with a preference for candidates based on the West Coast WHY REMOTE GitLab is a remote-first company, and this role is no exception.
