Datadog
Manager I, Engineering - Change Experience Platform
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager I, Engineering - Change Experience Platform is a high-impact role that combines product thinking with strong engineering judgment. As a technical leader, you will manage and grow a team of engineers working on the systems that shape how Datadog engineers interact with infrastructure change. You will partner closely with infrastructure, developer experience, platform engineering, and product teams to build reusable interfaces, workflows, and safety mechanisms that make complex change processes easier to understand and safer to execute.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Manager I, Engineering - Change Experience Platform, you will lead and grow a small team of engineers responsible for internal platforms and product experiences used across Datadog engineering. You will help define what “good” looks like for internal developer-facing platforms, including usability, reliability, documentation, adoption, and supportability. You will set technical direction for systems that span UI frameworks, CLI tooling, notification platforms, subscription models, and infrastructure governance workflows. You will stay in touch with your team’s code, and roll up your sleeves when needed to unblock your team by writing code or troubleshooting issues. You will lead and cultivate a team of engineers with a diverse skill-set, including performance management and career development. You will own and drive relationships with engineering teams and major stakeholders helping to prioritize impact towards the team’s north star. You will run OKR processes to define and align the team's quarterly goals with the needs of the business and platform.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need experience managing engineers working on internal platforms, developer tooling, infrastructure tooling, product platforms, or similar internally focused systems. You will need strong technical judgment across distributed systems, internal tools, APIs, data models, and user-facing engineering workflows. You will need to understand that internal platforms succeed through adoption, trust, reliability, and clear user experience, not just technical correctness. You will need experience working directly with engineering customers, platform teams, or infrastructure teams to understand their workflows and improve how they get work done. You will need significant experience in one or more backend languages, such as Go, Python, Java, or similar; and with different types of data stores, such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis or ElasticSearch. You will need enough frontend or product-surface fluency to guide teams building internal UIs, design systems, workflow tools, or other user-facing engineering experiences. A BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent professional experience is also required.
WHY REMOTE

You will also have access to a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits, including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
