Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, enabling millions of companies to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. As a Machine Learning Engineer on the Payment Intelligence team, you will play a critical role in optimizing transactions, maximizing successful transactions, and minimizing payment costs and fraud. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of applied ML model development and deployment in service of consumer-facing products like Radar, Adaptive Acceptance, and Identity. You will work closely with software engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists, and ML platform infrastructure teams to design, build, deploy, and operate Stripe's ML-powered payment decisioning systems. Responsibilities include: - Designing and deploying new models using tools like Spark, Presto, XGBoost, Tensorflow, and PyTorch - Improving existing ML models and developing new ML solutions for fraud detection and prevention - Proposing new feature ideas and designing real-time data pipelines to incorporate them into our models - Integrating new signals into ML pipelines, deriving new ML features, and building workflows to make this process fast - Collaborating and executing projects cross-functionally with the data science, product management, infrastructure, and risk teams - Ensuring engineering outcomes meet or exceed established standards of excellence in code quality, system design, and scalability - Mentoring engineers earlier in their technical careers to help them grow - Proposing and implementing innovative product ideas to reduce costs and combat fraud at Stripe WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be considered for this role, you should have: - Over 3+ years of industry experience building machine learning applications in large-scale distributed systems - 2+ years of experience working within a team responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing ML models or ML infrastructure - Experience designing and training machine learning models to solve critical business problems - Experience performing analysis, including querying data, defining metrics, or slicing and dicing data to model performance and business metrics WHY REMOTE As a remote Machine Learning Engineer, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and contribute to Stripe's mission to increase the GDP of the internet.
