ABOUT THE ROLE Adyen is a leading financial technology platform that provides payments, data, and financial products to customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. As a Global Partner Engineering Manager, Payments, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Adyen's payment partner integrations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a global team of Payment Partner Engineers and drive the development of high-performing teams. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the leader of the Payments Partner Engineering team, you will be responsible for driving integration reliability and performance across Adyen's global payment method portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include: - Leading, mentoring, and coaching a global team of Payment Partner Engineers to foster their growth and ensure they are effective technical counterparts to Adyen's payment partners. - Defining and driving a vision for the Payments Partner Engineering function to shift the team's center of gravity from reactive issue management toward proactive partnership, performance ownership, and operational leverage. - Owning integration health across Adyen's payment method portfolio, with accountability for reliability, performance, and the team's service model to internal and external stakeholders. - Driving strategic architectural recommendations to ensure partners optimally integrate with Adyen, maximizing value for Adyen's merchant customers. - Partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Commercial, Compliance, and Reliability teams to represent the "technical voice of the partner" and drive action on integration issues and improvements. - Establishing and maintaining direct relationships with payment partners at a senior level, including participation in QBRs, joint business planning, and escalation management. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - 8+ years of direct line management experience of technical or hybrid technical/operational teams, with a track record of hiring, developing, and managing senior individual contributors. - A solid understanding of payments, including familiarity with card schemes, payment method integrations, and API-based payment flows. - Comfort with technical concepts at the API and systems level, with the ability to engage credibly with engineers and technical partners without needing to be a hands-on software engineer. - Proven experience driving operational improvements, identifying the root causes of recurring issues, and building sustainable processes, tooling, or automation to address them. - Strong communication and cross-functional influencing skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and external partner teams. - Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior internal stakeholders and payment partner counterparts. - High agency, with the ability to identify opportunities, form a point of view, get alignment, and move.
