Engineering Manager, Switchboard

ABOUT THE ROLE The Engineering Manager, Switchboard will lead the Switchboard team, responsible for the Tenant management product for Dedicated environments at GitLab. This team is diverse in skills and owns the product end to end, enabling self-service and workflow automations for customers and internal operators of our large-scale Dedicated tenant fleet. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Engineering Manager, Switchboard, you will lead the full-stack Switchboard team responsible for GitLab Dedicated's customer-facing control panel. Your key responsibilities will include setting clear direction for how the team delivers and evolves that product, hiring and developing a high-performing team, and partnering with Technical Team Leads to provide direction and act as a final decision-maker and unblocker of the team to move forward fast. You will also own planning with the Product Manager, including priorities, dependencies, and the quarterly delivery epic, and ensure fast, high-quality, and cross-functional execution across frontend, backend, UX, product, and technical writing. Additionally, you will drive improvements in quality, security, and performance, and support the team's mission of enabling GitLab Dedicated customers to manage their tenant environments while reducing manual operations on the large-scale Dedicated fleet. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proven track record of building and owning large-scale distributed services, with the technical depth to dive into architecture and guide the team on technical strategy. You should also have experience in driving operational excellence and owning services running at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs, as well as leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity. Furthermore, you should have a history of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including managing out when necessary, and be comfortable driving complex projects to completion without relying on a dedicated TPM.
