Engineering Manager, Performance & Resilience (Auth0)

ABOUT THE ROLE Okta is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager of Performance & Resilience to drive performance and resiliency improvements for the Auth0 product. This role will involve working with advanced technology to streamline and secure billions of access requests a year. As a key member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with architects, platform team members, and product engineers to build the testing infrastructure that keeps Auth0 performant at scale. WHAT YOU'LL DO As an Engineering Manager of Performance & Resilience, you will be responsible for driving performance and resiliency improvements for the Auth0 product. Your key responsibilities will include: Collaborating with architects, tech lead, product owners, security and operations engineers to implement best practices related to performance and resiliency Communicating and organizing cross-team projects with high business impact Contributing to defining the strategic direction and roadmap for the team Owning the evolution of the team's load testing framework, driving improvements in modularity, reusability, scalability, and developer experience Leading the strategy and execution for test dataset generation, ensuring load and performance tests use realistic, representative data that accurately reflects production traffic patterns and user behaviors Using existing monitoring tools to identify problems and resolve and/or escalate to service teams Developing backend frameworks and tools for the entire engineering organization to use at scale Participating in the incident RCA process to continuously improve how we test Providing technical guidance to engineers on the performance team within the quality domain Managing a global team, including setting expectations, removing blockers, creating a collaborative working environment, hiring, and providing coaching and career development WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience in stakeholder management, including alignment, prioritization, communication, and receiving and incorporating feedback Adaptability to changing requirements, with the ability to manage a team through a pivot in priorities Prior management experience of a globally diverse team Experience designing or significantly improving load testing frameworks, including extensibility, test data management, and CI/CD integration Hands-on experience with test dataset generation strategies, including synthetic data generation and data validation Strong technical skills, including performance testing, load testing frameworks, dataset generation, performance analysis, monitoring tooling, and chaos engineering WHY REMOTE Okta offers a flexible and remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
