Engineering Manager
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're on a mission to make money work for everyone at Monzo, a leading digital bank in the UK. We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team and help us continue to grow and build new teams. As an Engineering Manager at Monzo, you'll be part of a cross-functional team that includes Product Managers, backend, web and mobile engineers, data scientists, designers, and subject matter experts.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As an Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for the technical and delivery outcomes for your area. This includes supporting and developing best-in-class engineering talent, creating an inclusive team environment, and driving technical initiatives that raise the bar for our engineering practices. You'll lead a group of around 7-10 engineers, support their career development, and collaborate with senior engineers to drive technical initiatives. You'll also communicate with stakeholders from other teams, create focus space for engineers to do their best work, and contribute to company-wide best managerial and technical practices and standards.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong technical and delivery background, with experience working as a software engineer in previous roles. You'll be comfortable operating with ambiguous problem areas, have a high degree of autonomy, and be able to guide squads in achieving their outcomes. You'll also focus on outcomes over processes, optimize for the highest impact and leverage, and be able to input, understand, and challenge engineering decisions.

This role is open to remote candidates within the UK, offering the flexibility to work from home or a remote location. With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award-winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers. We're not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.
BENEFITS
The base salary for this role is £112,000 - £145,000, plus Incentive Awards tied to your performance. You'll also have access to a range of benefits, including those listed on our careers page.
