Engineering Manager, Dedicated Integrations

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Dedicated Platform Integration team at GitLab. This team is responsible for the integration of third-party and modular features in the GitLab ecosystem, specifically for the Dedicated platform hosted SaaS. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong operational instincts and a passion for building high-performing teams. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Dedicated Platform Integration team to ensure effective execution, high availability, and scalability of the Dedicated infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: - Enabling the team to execute with quality and speed, in partnership with the Product Manager - Ensuring 3+ 9s availability of Dedicated infrastructure, with a focus on security and automation for maximum scalability and number of tenants - Providing clear direction, meaningful feedback, and fostering an environment where meaningless toil is ruthlessly automated and DevOps ownership is enforced - Continuously improving owned artifacts to optimize platforms for self-service ownership of production for feature implementers - Recruiting, onboarding, and developing excellent and productive team members - Serving as a role model for the team, providing proof of concepts, an agentic mindset, and extreme simplification of processes and removal of human toil - Role modeling Incident Management best practices, leading in fast resolutions, escalations, and training and codifying best practices to the whole of GitLab - Employing a data-driven approach to prioritization, impact quantification, and management of risk and technical debt, using AI to demonstrate concepts and translate technical complexity to drive stakeholder decisions WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - A proven track record of building and owning large-scale distributed services, with the technical depth to dive into architecture and guide the team on technical strategy - Experience driving operational excellence and owning services running at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs, with knowledge of what it takes to keep them there - Experience leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity, with real lessons learned from both wins and missteps - A history of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including managing out when necessary - Comfort driving complex projects to completion without relying on a dedicated TPM - Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively WHY REMOTE As a remote team, we are looking for candidates who are comfortable working in a distributed environment and can effectively lead and communicate with team members across different locations.
