Engineering Manager, Data Orchestration Platform

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Data Orchestration team at Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. As a critical component of our engineering organization, this team ensures that our engineers have the most productive experience developing and operating secure, reliable, and efficient data pipelines across all execution environments. The team owns Airflow, our data workflow scheduling platform, end to end, and is responsible for its infrastructure, developer experience, deployment systems, and migration roadmap. WHAT YOU'LL DO As the Engineering Manager of the Data Orchestration team, you will have a broad platform impact, influencing hundreds of engineers and thousands of production workflows daily. You will own the platform roadmap, defining the multi-year direction for Airflow at Stripe, and drive adoption of the next-generation platform across the organization. You will also lead and scale a high-performing team, investing in career development and fostering a culture of operational excellence. Additionally, you will ensure operational rigor, maintaining unwavering reliability for a Tier-0 platform, and provide technical stewardship, guiding the team through high-stakes architectural decisions. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in software development and engineering, with at least 10 years of professional experience. You will also need 5+ years of direct engineering management experience, successfully building and operating high-velocity technical teams. A proven track record of driving significant infrastructure efficiency, managing capacity planning, and making data-driven cost-performance trade-offs is also essential. Experience working effectively in highly cross-functional, global organizations is highly valued.
