Engineering Manager - Data Automation

ABOUT THE ROLE As an Engineering Manager - Data Automation at Klaviyo, you will have the opportunity to lead a high-performing team and drive the technical vision for the Data Automation team. You will be responsible for designing and building systems that enable the Data Platform area to power core Klaviyo functionality and generate data-driven insights. With a strong background in software engineering and people management, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Klaviyo's data analytics infrastructure. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a founding member of the Data Automation team, you will be responsible for: - Building and managing a team of 7+ engineers to fulfill your data automation vision and roadmap - Coaching engineers, managing/reviewing technical documentation, and articulating a phased approach to achieving the team's overall technical vision - Owning the mission, technical direction, and operations of projects that have immediate impact - Developing frameworks that enable the provisioning, updating, testing, monitoring, and scaling of infrastructure to power features relied upon by 183,000+ customers - Optimizing infrastructure with the teams that own Klaviyo's analytics system, providing insight on hundreds of terabytes of data - Transforming workflows by putting AI at the center, building smarter systems and ways of working from the ground up WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience - 8+ years of software engineering experience in a DevOps environment, with specific experience in data processing systems - 3+ years of people management experience - Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating reliable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance distributed systems - Ability to handle yourself in outage situations and drive failures to root cause analysis and prevention of future issues - Experience writing code using best practices in a language such as Python, Ruby, Go, etc. - Proven ability to come up to speed quickly and experiment with AI in work or personal projects WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and be part of a team that values collaboration and open communication.
