ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join the Safety and Customer Care (SCC) team at Lyft. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines that power our Associate and AI Agent Platform. Your work will have a direct impact on the reliability of our pipelines, the accuracy of agent performance reporting, and the efficiency of our operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to bridge business goals with data engineering, providing insights that inform business decisions and drive growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Data Engineer on the SCC team, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing data pipelines that scale to meet the growing data needs of Lyft
- Evolving data models and schemas to meet business and engineering requirements
- Implementing systems to track data quality and consistency
- Developing tools to support self-service data pipeline management
- Tuning SQL and MapReduce jobs to improve data processing performance
- Writing high-quality, well-tested code that is maintainable and readable
- Participating in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business problems and align on solutions
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with a focus on large-scale distributed systems
- Strong experience with Spark and the Hadoop ecosystem
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Go
- Good understanding of SQL engines and advanced performance tuning
- Proficiency in at least one SQL language, such as SparkSQL or Trino
- Experience with workflow management tools, such as Airflow
- Comfortable working with data analytics to bridge business goals with data engineering
