Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE The Interaction Design Foundation is the world’s largest online platform for design and AI education, with over 1.15 million learners and partnerships with leading companies and universities. As Course Director – UX, UI, and AI – you will shape the next generation of courses that empower designers worldwide to thrive in an AI‑augmented future. You will sit at the intersection of curriculum strategy, industry partnership, and production, turning the vision of human‑centered design into engaging, high‑impact learning experiences. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will identify and secure top industry experts, including leaders from Netflix, LinkedIn, Meta, Adobe, and academic pioneers such as Don Norman, to serve as course instructors. You will review proposed course outlines from Education Designers, refine learning objectives, and ensure each module delivers measurable outcomes for participants. You will collaborate with video production teams to storyboard, shoot, and edit master classes, guaranteeing that content is both pedagogically sound and visually compelling. You will coordinate with the growth team to align course releases with market demand and learner feedback. You will maintain a continuous research loop, monitoring emerging design and AI trends to keep the curriculum cutting‑edge. Finally, you will mentor junior editors and designers, fostering a culture of excellence across the editorial team. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You possess a deep, practical understanding of human‑centered design principles and a forward‑looking perspective on AI’s role in the design workflow. You have a proven track record in online course development or curriculum design, ideally within a global learning organization. You excel at stakeholder engagement, having successfully negotiated collaborations with high‑profile industry figures. Your communication skills are exemplary—both written and verbal—enabling you to craft persuasive outreach emails, articulate course vision, and guide cross‑functional teams. You are comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting tight deadlines. A background in UX or UI research, coupled with familiarity with video production pipelines, will give you a distinct advantage. WHY REMOTE Interaction Design Foundation operates on a distributed, asynchronous culture that values results over hours logged. You will enjoy a flexible schedule that supports work across time zones, allowing you to balance personal commitments while collaborating with global peers. Remote work empowers you to focus on high‑impact tasks without the constraints of a traditional office, fostering creativity and efficiency. The Foundation’s commitment to a healthy work‑life balance means you can pursue professional growth and personal interests in parallel. BENEFITS Competitive health and dental coverage, a generous paid time off policy, and a remote work stipend to support your home office. A learning budget for courses, conferences, and certifications to keep your skills sharp. Access to the Foundation’s extensive library of design resources and industry events. Opportunities for career advancement within a mission‑driven organization that serves millions of learners worldwide.
