M&A and Accounting Policy Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled M&A and Accounting Policy Manager to join our Accounting team at Coinbase. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of finance by driving the accounting treatment for strategic investments, acquisitions, and new business activities. You will serve as the primary accounting resource across the full M&A and investment transaction lifecycle, from financial due diligence and purchase accounting through post-close integration. WHAT YOU'LL DO As an M&A and Accounting Policy Manager, you will lead financial due diligence on target companies, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital assessments, and identification of accounting exposures and deal-relevant risks. You will also own end-to-end purchase accounting for completed acquisitions under ASC 805, drive the accounting treatment for strategic investments under ASC 321, ASC 323, and ASC 810, and shape and evolve Coinbase's accounting policies through technical accounting memos on new and emerging products. Additionally, you will deliver original footnote disclosures, MD&A, and transaction-related disclosures for 10-Q and 10-K filings, and ensure related SOX controls are designed and operating effectively. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will require 9+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience, and a CPA certification. You will need demonstrated breadth and depth of US GAAP knowledge, including M&A accounting (ASC 805), investment accounting (ASC 321, ASC 323), and consolidation (ASC 810). Proven experience leading financial due diligence, managing external consultants and advisors, and drafting technical accounting memos and original financial statement disclosures are also essential. As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and will be expected to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges."
