Data Protection Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking an experienced Data Protection Manager to join our Global DPO Office, supporting the Data Protection Officer in meeting regulatory obligations and driving innovative solutions that make money work for everyone. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in shaping our data protection compliance strategy and ensuring the integrity of our customer data. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Data Protection Manager, you'll provide practical, proportionate data protection advice, oversight, and challenge across the bank. Your responsibilities will include: - Reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and providing opinions on data protection compliance - Assessing data breaches and supporting clear, well-documented decisions on regulatory reporting - Supporting our relationship with regulators and improving processes behind regulatory engagement and complaints - Representing the Global DPO Office in projects led by others where data protection compliance is affected - Working toward specific goals and workstreams within the DPO Office maturity plan - Proactively finding opportunities to improve how we work, including through better use of data, automation, AI, and other tools - Deputising for the Data Protection Officer from time to time, giving you the opportunity to build experience across DPO-level responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you'll need: - Practical, experienced knowledge of UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO expectations, backed by a relevant qualification such as an IAPP qualification or equivalent - Curiosity about AI and innovative technology, with experience using or exploring how to use AI practically in your work - Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work methodically, find clear and proportionate solutions, and deliver tangible improvements - Hands-on experience across core DPO work, including DPIAs, data breaches, privacy notices, governance, reporting, and regulator-facing activity - Understanding of what good second-line oversight looks like, with the ability to build trusted relationships while providing effective advice, oversight, and challenge - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with teams across the company, share knowledge, influence well, and work through problems early WHY REMOTE As a remote worker, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere, at any time, as long as you have a stable internet connection.
